Subject: FaxFinder FFx40 fails to check for updates - resolution 2
Description:
SYMPTOM:  When "Check for Updates" is clicked the following error appears:

     Error checking for updates. Verify your network settings, default gateway and/or primary DNS may be required:

     Downloading http://multitech.net/releases/ffx40/latest/Packages.gz.
     Collected errors:
     * opkg_download: Failed to download http://multitech.net/releases/ffx40/latest/Packages.gz, wget returned 1.

RESOLUTION:  This is because we discovered an issue with the script that performs the updates.  It is a 3 step process to resolve the issue.

Step 1) Download the ffupgrade script from our ftp site

  It can be found here:
  https://webfiles.multitech.com/faxfinder/res5095129/

  You should be able to click on the filename and a Save As window should appear.  Please, save the file to your computer.  The file size should be 5,519 bytes.

Step 2) Backup and copy the file to the /usr/local/bin directory

  Using a scp client (winscp or similar program) rename the current ffupgrade file to ffupgrade.org and then copy the file to the /usr/loca/bin/ directory on the FaxFinder.

  Note:  The file (ffupgrade) must be executable.  If using winscp, right click on the file after it has been uploaded to the FaxFinder and select properties.  In the window that appears check each box with the "X" and click OK.

Step 3) Change the Update Source on the System Configuration -> Software Update Page

  Click on "Default" and then change "latest" to "current" (without the quotes).  When you click on "Check for Updates" the error should not appear.
